Minimum Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 (Matric)
Blasting Certificate
Trackless mining experience
2-3 years’ mining experience
Valid First Aid Certificate
Medically fit to work in the specific business area
Clear security screening record
Key Responsibilities:
SHE Supervision: Maintain SHE standards; monitor compliance and apply SHE standards in the work environment.
Quality Management System (QMS): Comply with QMS requirements.
Risk Assessments: Participate in risk assessments and address workplace hazards.
Task Analysis: Conduct task analyses and take action on identified risks.
Behavioural Based Safety: Conduct Safety Behaviour Observations (SBO’s).
SHEQ Investigations: Participate in investigations into workplace incidents.
Cost Savings: Identify cost-saving opportunities and safeguard company assets.
Corporate Governance: Comply with legal requirements.
Mining Risk Management: Identify and respond to mining-related risks.
Mining Supervision: Monitor and control mining teams and processes; provide effective problem-solving support.
Start of Day/Shift Preparation: Check staffing, collect necessary equipment, verify underground services, and adhere to schedules.
Entry Examination and Declaring Safe: Conduct statutory examinations and declare work areas safe.
Competent A (Underground Mining): Ensure safety of workplaces through various assessments and support mechanisms.
Safe and Effective Blasting Practices: Oversee the processes related to marking, drilling, charging, blasting, and cleanup.
Development and Construction: Monitor underground construction activities and ventilation control.
Tramming and Secondary Blasting: Oversee and control tramming activities and removal of rock blockages.
Maintenance and Housekeeping: Supervise maintenance activities and ensure cleanliness.
End of Shift Hand-Over: Conduct handover procedures and logging of shift activities.
