Requirements
About the Role
As a General Worker, you'll support the Maintenance Team by providing essential equipment maintenance assistance, specifically in welding, fitting, and electrical areas to enhance the reliability and sustainability of operations. Additionally, you will assist the Directional Drilling Team in various capacities to ensure efficient drilling processes.
Functional Outputs
Welding & Equipment Operation: Responsible for the welding of mining equipment, safe operation of welding equipment, and executing oxy-fuel gas cutting operations while adhering to safety protocols.
Safety Compliance: Conduct visual inspections of the working environment, ensuring all safety standards are upheld and reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
Team Collaboration: Work efficiently as part of a team to achieve specified goals, partake in daily meetings, and assist artisan colleagues with day-to-day tasks.
Reporting & Assessment: Complete specific tasks and checklists accurately, identify any abnormal operational conditions, and participate in hazard identification/task risk assessments.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Grade 12/N3/NCV Level 4 or Equivalent (Maths & Science preferred)
Driver’s License (minimum code 08)
Ability to obtain a medical certificate of fitness
First Aid Certificate (desired)
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
12 months of welding experience
Ability to safely operate tools such as angle-grinders and cutting torches
Basic knowledge of underground machinery (e.g., Shuttle Car, Roof Bolter)
Familiarity with plant operations (e.g., 12 months of plant experience is a plus)
Key Competencies Required:
Leadership: Self-awareness and accountability for personal growth and performance.
Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety procedures and emergency preparedness.
