Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
Manual Labor & Support: Perform manual labor and basic duties at all Johannesburg Water locations, under the supervision of the Electrical Support Section. Assist supervisors with their general duties daily.
Flooding Mitigation: Pump out flooded areas as needed.
Cleaning & Maintenance:
Maintain the cleanliness of Johannesburg Water assets daily, including warehouses, telemetry/CP enclosures, fleet vehicles, and equipment.
Load and unload equipment as required.
Sort and store items in a clean, safe, and organized manner weekly.
Inventory & Equipment Support:
Conduct inventory counts when necessary.
Replace batteries (discharge/recharge or swap) as required.
Grounds Keeping: Clear roads and walkways (grass cutting, weeding, and shrubbery cutting) to and around bunkers.
Electrical & Technical Support:
Test posts and enclosures as and when required.
Trench, sleeve, and lay wires and inspection boxes when necessary.
Visually inspect various equipment monthly, such as plug outlets, lighting, and fencing.
Assist with equipment installation, including level sensors.
Assist with the installation of new site lighting and replace malfunctioning lights as needed.
Safety & Compliance:
Inspect fire extinguishers on the property monthly, assisting the supervisor.
Promote workplace safety by promptly addressing hazardous working conditions and reporting all issues, flaws, or nonconformities to the supervisor immediately.
Operate and complete all tasks in compliance with the OHS Act's legislative requirements, supervisor's instructions, and other management directives.
Participate in and attend all Toolbox Talk sessions and other safety meetings.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by Johannesburg Water at all times, including safety boots, overalls, a safety harness, and gumboots, and use it as intended.
Job Requirements:
Essential Qualification: Grade 9
Experience: One (1) year of general working experience
