Key Responsibilities

• Record customer transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system.

• Provide outstanding customer service, adhering to Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.

• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.

• Handle all forms of payment, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and other accepted methods.

• Process loyalty cards and ensure cash is placed in the drop safe per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Handle exchanges and returns as authorized by the Frontline Supervisor or store management.

• Be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to management.

• Stay informed about current sales and promotions to assist customers effectively.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric.

• Minimum of 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience.

• Computer literacy (MS Office).

• Strong numerical skills.

• Excellent command of the English language.

• Basic customer service skills.

• Willingness to work retail hours.

Competencies

Essential:

• Knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.

• Accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong English communication skills (written and oral).

• Emotional intelligence and social awareness.

• Trustworthiness and honesty.

• Strong time management and problem-solving skills.

Advantageous:

• Proficiency in a third additional language.

Special Conditions of Employment

• Must be willing and able to work retail hours.

• Reliable transport or residence near the store is a must.

• South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
