Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier, your main duties will include:
Supporting customer service at the point of sale and ensuring outstanding shopping experiences.
Recording customer transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies and procedures.
Managing cash flow, including handling daily takings confidentially and reporting discrepancies or suspicious activities.
Processing all forms of payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and loyalty programs.
Adhering to Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles and security policies.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Qualification: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
Experience: Minimum of 6 months in cashier/till operations.
Skills:
Computer literate (MS Office).
Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in transactions.
Proficient command of the English language (both written and oral).
Basic customer service skills and willingness to work retail hours.
Competencies
In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
Reliability, honesty, and a strong sense of accountability.
Ability to analyze basic reports and effective time management skills.
Social awareness and emotional intelligence.
Advantageous Skills
Proficiency in a third additional language.
Special Conditions
Must be willing and able to work retail hours.
Reliable transport or residing close to the store is preferred.
South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
