Purpose of the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Casual Cashier for their Dainfern store. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service at the point of sale and ensuring accurate transaction processing, aligned with the company's policies and standard operating procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
Education: Grade 12 / Matric
Experience: At least 6 months of cashier/till operations experience
Skills:
Proficient in MS Office
Strong numerical skills
Strong command of the English language
Basic customer service abilities
Availability: Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
Build and maintain professional relationships with customers.
Report customer feedback to the Frontline Supervisor or management.
Maintain adherence to the expected customer turnover rate.
Stay informed about current sales and promotions.
Ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers.
Comply with Dis-Chem’s five-star communication principles.
Manage cash flow effectively, ensuring accurate transactions.
Ensure that all voids and price changes are approved and documented.
Process customer transactions, including payments via various methods (cash, bank cards, vouchers).
Handle merchandise exchanges and returns when authorized.
Securely manage cash using SOPs for drop safe procedures.
Safeguard till money and handle daily takings confidentially.
Remain vigilant in recognizing and reporting suspicious behavior.
Address any queries that customers may have regarding store merchandise.
Follow security policies and procedures diligently.
Competencies
Essential:
In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
Experience in processing sales, refunds, and other payments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
High accuracy and attention to detail.
Presentable and trustworthy.
Strong emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management abilities.
Advantageous:
Proficiency in a third additional language.
Special Conditions of Employment
Able and willing to work retail hours.
Reliable transport and/or reside close to the store.
Must be a South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
